its side-effects include decreased hemoglobin levels and acute tubular necrosis.

Foscarnet sodium is used for the treatment of CMV retinitis in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)
and for treatment of acyclovir-resistant mucocutaneous HSV infections in immunocompromised patients.
