1.Mechanism of action: Aztreonam is a single-ring β-lactam antibiotic. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it can specifically bind to the penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) on the cell walls of aerobic Gram-negative bacteria, thereby inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall and ultimately leading to bacterial death. 
2. Antimicrobial spectrum: Aztreonam exhibits high activity against aerobic Gram-negative bacteria (such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, Serratia, Haemophilus influenzae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). 
3. Unique characteristics: Ineffective against Gram-positive bacteria and anaerobic bacteria. There is an extremely low risk of cross-allergy with penicillins and cephalosporins, making it a valuable alternative for patients allergic to β-lactam drugs.

Aztreonam Primarily for serious Gram-negative bacterial infections, including: complicated UTIs, septicemia, lower respiratory infections, and intra-abdominal infections. Especially valuable for penicillin-allergic patients.
