The efficacy of curcumin

1. Anti-inflammatory

Anti-inflammatory is an extremely widely used role of curcumin, which has pharmacological activity to relieve and treat a variety of inflammation, such as arthritis, hepatitis, pneumonia and so on.Curcumin can also treat traumatic arthritis, inhibit oxidase, remove free radical oxidation, mainly by inhibiting cycoperoxidase, lipid oxidase and a variety of inflammatory mediators play an anti-inflammatory role.

2.Anti-oxidation

Curcumin has good antioxidant capacity and can effectively improve the oxidative damage of the body. Curcumin combined with lycopene can improve acute ethanol oxidative damage by increasing superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase

3. Protect liver and gallbladder

Curcumin can reduce the content of various lipids in the liver, thus inhibiting the synthesis of fatty acids in the liver, effectively alleviating the burden of the liver, delaying the deterioration of hepatitis, and reversing liver damage. In addition, curcumin can also increase the production and secretion of bile and promote the contraction of the gallbladder.

4.Anti-tumor effect

It has been found that the anti-tumor effect of curcumin is mainly achieved by inducing apoptosis of tumor cells and regulating the cell survival pathway, and the targets involved include transcription factors, growth factors, inflammatory factors, receptors, enzymes and so on.

For different tumors, curcumin may combine different signaling pathways to exert anti-tumor effects. Current studies have focused on: colorectal cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, lung cancer, gastric cancer, multiple myeloma, and head and neck malignancies.

These studies have found that curcumin alone or in combination with other chemotherapeutic agents, radiotherapy, or surgery may be a promising anti-tumor approach, and may also be used to treat tumors that are resistant to chemotherapeutic agents.
